I just got back from the Varsity Show. It was the first time I’ve been to the Varsity Show, and I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I have a splitting headache from sitting in the front row, but that’s a small price to pay for good entertainment.
Speaking of things that addle the pate, I read this curious column in the Spec.
Let Dante and Austen and Woolf know all the “facts” they will, they still wouldn’t be anything without knowing equally as much about how their own minds function—their success comes from their desire and ability to not let the mind work itself out without consciously understanding what it’s doing.
Wahuh???
I agree, the Varsity Show was very fun.
I was wondering, do you know when they post mp3s of the songs on their website?

The Varsity Show is ok if you like childish humor. I thought the singing was amazing though, really talented cast. I would really like to see the bs between schools stop. It’s just childish and lame. Every person at Columbia University deserves to be here whether they are Barnard, GS, CC or SEAS. We should be unified in celebrating our differences, not squabbling like a bunch of babies about who is smarter or more mature. People don’t fit into neatly defined categories. Some GS kids are geniuses and some are immature, some CC kids are geniuses and some are immature. I guess I don’t find that kind of comedy funny… I would expect more intelligent comedy from a place like Columbia (less Will Ferrell more Jon Stewart.) There were some jokes that were offensive towards women. I know there are going to be a bunch of knuckle heads that think that is what comedy is but I beg to differ.
