So the Commentariat has been plugging away as usual these past few days, with posts about Columbia-related goings-on and various other journalistic whatnot. But when a student is murdered within a block of campus, it is literally the only important thing going on–the only story of the week, possibly the only story of the year. There’s little less comprehensible to me than the prospect of leaving Butler after a night of studying and finding yourself dead a few short hours later, and events like this effectively trivialize everything else of alleged importance. The Commentariat will try to make sense of things as best we can, and expect more coverage as the week progresses.
