It’s always funny to see a string of robberies occur back-to-back by some random fool off the streets. And it’s not funny in the “ha-ha” kind of way, but funny in the “NYPD-what-are-you-doing?” kind of way. I mean, when you’ve got a guy with a gun, a knife, a few robberies and a stabbing to boot, you’ve got yourself a problem. From what I can tell from Daniel Amzallag’s article, our lurking fiend is a pretty public, forward and even considerate guy, who according to witnesses, “entered the store, left, and returned when customers exited.”
The only meritorious act that occurred during the whole shenanigan was when a robbery at Liberty House on 2878 Broadway went awry as Employee-of-the-Day, Amy, decided to sneak out the back and call for help. Fellow employee, Arielle, shared a bit of her insight: “Wait, this only happens in the movies.”
Marvellous, Arielle.
Amy was later recruited by the NYPD as an ideal candidate for their anti-robbery squad, having passed all their tests in this one incident. (Not a fact).
